I have always been scared of the dentist. Never fond of visiting them, even when I was younger.
I remember how thambhi used to come to my classroom to accompany me for my routine dental check-ups in school. He was the brave one, when it came to dental check-ups. So, the nurse will hand him my card and ask him to bring me. They knew I was scared and would dodge visiting them! It was pretty embarrassing when he comes knocking on the classroom door, asking my teacher permission to bring me to the dentist. But now, I feel proud.. that he did all that!
Last week, before we met thambhi for high tea, apps and I went for our dental check-ups. Even there, I sent apps in first when the nurse called for either one of us to come in the examination room. I was trying to buy time ;)
After 15 minutes, it was my turn. I knew I cannot run away.. so, in I walked.
After scaling/polishing, the dentist filled one of my tooth. He did mention that I would have to extract my wisdom tooth sooner or later as there is not enough room for growth. The tooth does cause some pain every now and then, but I told him that I give it a rain check. Hehehe..
Phew! I am done with it.. at least for now.
When we met at the high tea, I boasted to thambhi how I was braver now, on how I was able to stand the filing procedure.
He told me, "I cannot stand it. The last time I did filing, I asked the dentist to give me a local anesthesia!"
"Huh?" I exclaimed. "You scared of that also ah? Hahaha.. There's nothing much to that lah." *grinning*
Show off, huh? But I know I am gonna freak out in another few months when it is time for my wisdom tooth extraction!

ai yooo..talking abt dentist! i hate dentist..bad experience b4...i remembered when i was young..primary school that time..nurses and dentist back home soo fierce!
But here is different... more polite..even ask u whether u r okie everytime u show ur face of in pain..kekkeke...

My dear daughter when u were about 10 years, I can still recall Papa telling how u took the jab to numb your gum but latter you refused to open your mouth for the dentist.
ehhehe i like ur moms note ;p ive had my fair share of embarrasing moments at the drs ;p

Yeah, those dentist and nurses all look scary in school! Or, is it because we were already scared of the pain that made them scary? Hehehe..
I guess when we pay them, they take care of us better.. so that we will be back?
May be that's why I feel better going to the dentist now.. coz' they do it gently? But I am still scared of the dentist. Filing is ok, but I am damn scared of extraction/surgery (which I may not be able to hide away for long) :(

Aaah, I remeber that! I keep my lips tightly pursed. Appa and teh doctor tried to force me to open my mouth while the nurse held my hand tightly.. but they didn't succeed! Hehehe..
I came back with that shaky tooth and pulled it off myself a week later ;)

hahaha I hate my dentist visit's too,i hate any visits to the hospital but dentists are like on my prime hate list cos i have been going to them since i was a child...ate too many chocolates and didn't brush my teeth well as a kid.i still have an aversion to minty tooth pastes.yucks!
but now i make sure i visit them every six months whether my teeth are giving me any trouble or not.if i just had the wisdom that i have now,i would have never had to face dental problems.Man!

I bet 9 out of 10 people are afraid of dentist.. just the drilling sound sends a chill down my spine.
ehhehe im afraid of pain the injected kind ;p but not burns n cuts or sprains ;p
Hehe...I think I am quite brave. Since primary school, I visited the dentist on my own. I have also extracted both my wisdom tooth, it was surgery. kekekeke..

I have a good set of teeth (touch wood), but I wish I wasn't scared of the dentist.. and can have a decent check every 6 months ;)

Hearing the sound of the drill when at the dentist itself scares me, imagine what a role model we will be to our kids?!

Not me.. I am scared of all kind of pains. I am just glad that I could bear the labour pain (with the epidural). Phew! Imagine if I got up and said, "No, I don't want to go throught it!"
