They are so innocent

We attended a friend’s daughter’s 1st birthday party at the A&W in Subang Jaya last weekend. After having our meals, the kids had some time to play by themselves.. while waiting for the A&W Bear to make an appearance.

While having our meal, a friend told me that her kids were afraid of the A&W Bear the last time they saw him. So, during their meal, she was trying to indicate that the A&W Bear is coming and not to be scared. I didn’t know how Champion would react, so I left it for later. Since he was brave to meet Barney, I assumed that he would handle A&W Bear well :)

True enough, Champion was not afraid of the A&W Bear. He was stunned to see him for the first time, but when I told him that he is the Big Blue Bear in the Big Blue house. Then he was happy to see him.. saying, “Big Bear” and joined in their activities and winning presents.

The boys had fun, but apps and I were taken aback... with 3 incidents.

Scenario #1 : While I was having my meal, a little boy, about 4 years old came up to our table. He took the sausage from the hotdog meal that I had laid (no sauce yet). Hmm, never mind I thought. He’s a little boy and he wants to have a sausage. Within seconds, he came back to my table and put back the sausage in my hotdog bread and spat the contents in his mouth on my serviette, right next to my hotdog bread!

Huh?! This I was shocked. I think he was old enough to know that he was not being decent.

Scenario #2 : During the follow the A&W Bear dancing game, Champion was trying his best to follow the steps.. although not as good as another kid. However, after some time, the kid disappeared from the music floor. Lil’ President was just bouncing and jumping while holding apps hand.

When the music stopped, the A&W Bear declared Champion and lil’ President as one of the winners. I We were surprised. We didn’t think both of them stood out during the dance.. but since the A&W Bear said they won, let it be.

But the adults were not happy. They were asking how come both of them got the gifts.

Hey, the A&W Bear doesn’t know that they are brothers and I don’t think he was bias, unless he thinks my sons are the cutest there and think they deserve the gifts! Not enough, another person carried the little good dancer to the A&W Bear and asked him to be given a gift as well. Fair enough.., but the little boy didn’t know anything.. no grosses for not having the gift. I undertsand when you are trying to be fair to the little boy, but why belittle my little boys who got the gifts innocently? *sigh*

Scenario #3 : Before we left, we bid our goodbyes. One of the adult was having the stress ball (little rugby ball), which was also given in the party bag. Champion touched his hands.. and I knew he wanted to see the little rugby ball. He didn’t know he has one in the party bag which he hasn’t open. Before I could tell him that he has his own, the adult handed it to him.. saying “Here, you can have it” and turned back to us and said, “Hey, how does your son do it.. They got gifts, they got two stress balls.. very lucky ah..” Apps and I were shocked! We only could afford to laugh it off.

Hey, he only wanted to see it and you gave it to him. So, it was you who was not sincere when you emphasized your little gesture!

Oh my goodness! I wonder how we are going to set a good example while we bring up our innocent kids into the materialistic and mindful world? *sigh*

They are so innocent.. please spare them.

Bad examples for little children. But the kids had a good time.

I think I would have got very upset and said something.

shamira,
We just didn't know what to say.. had to hide our thoughts as we are friends.. *sigh*
But I guess they should have known better as they have children of their own!

Some ppl can just be mean! I also had a kinda similar experience this weekend where my son also won in the party games. As parents they just tend to go a bit over board!

has to be me,
Yeah.. so sad isn't it.
If it was between adults, it's okay, coz' they can defend themselves.. But it's children that they are talking about. These kids can't even understand meaning of the sentence they are saying.. they are that young!

We are role models to our children, or as a matter of fact, any child.. we have to have a clean mind first... *sigh*
