When appa was on his night shifts, it would just be amma, thambhi and I.
I remember.. amma would allow us to watch TV. She says we need a little of TV now and then. She said we shouldn't study too much. Of course, appa says there is no such thing. He was against it and expects us to use our free time studying. Appa would scold amma and say that she is spoiling us by allowing us to watch TV during our study time, 7.00 p.m. till 9.00 p.m.
So, in the nights, we would be watching TV with our books right next to us. The moment thambhi or I catch the slightest sound of appa’s motorbike (we were very good at sensing appa’s motorbike..), we would rush to open our books. Amma will also join in the rush to of the TV.
When appa comes in the house, it would seem as if we were studying and amma was reading newspaper or doing something. Most of the time he doesn’t know what we have been up to. But sometimes, we just can’t help it and our giggles will give way. Appa would frown.
However, if it is too late and it was way past our bedtime, we would straightway jump into our beds the moment we hear appa’s motorbike. Worst of all, thambhi acts as if he was sleeping and would even snore!!! He was only about 8 years old.

Haha.. your mum is quite a 'sporting' mum huh?
v. soon, u will have all those incidents repeating in your life , but with the roles reversed.
I hope you remember your childhood days then.........
Wow! Way 2 go. I'm also damn close to my supportive mom & love to share my secrets with her.
That is cute. I think all of us have done stuff like that.I remember reading comic books instead of studying and soon as amma came into the room I would hide it.
Oh yes! I could clearly recall how your Thambi could pretend to be soundly asleep and I cannot bear laughing. And tell the whole story to Appa. Do you remember how he sneak and give small notes to Appa informing him that I helped myself to chocolates. Your Thambi was a little rogue. Also do you remember when he ask permission for something I will say cannot and ask Thambi to ask
Appa. He will ask Appa saying Amma said it is okay what do you say...Mum
Hahaha... that sure sounds sweet! Thankfully I was never reprimanded from watching TV or something else. So I never got to indulge in these kinda adventures! :)
