During the weekend we brought Champion and lil' President to the swimming pool. I went in the pool with the boys, while apps just stood guard at the edge of the pool. Appa joined us too.
We had just bought Champion a swimming trunk. Together with his floats, he was so excited that he was getting in the pool. But to our surprise, he only wanted to play with the water and didn't want to get in. May be it was a bit cold, but once you're in, you hardly feel cold.
Appa and I tried many times to bring Champion to swim. Even after many dip, he wanted to go back to the edge of the pool, sit on the staircase and play with the water. "Don't want, don't want", he will say.
On the other hand, lil' President was cool. He loved the water. While he was sitting in the tube, he paddled a bit and was able to move towards apps at the edge of the pool. He was not even shaken when he dropped his head forward and got his face wet. He just went on paddling and enjoying himself.
We are very sure lil' President will learn to swim way before Champion. I believe Champion was afraid b’coz he knew the meaning of depth and dangers of deep water, while lil' President is yet to understand the danger, and is just excited to play with water.
With another few more visits to the swimming pool, I am sure lil' President will be swimming away. In the mean time, I will have to help Champion to overcome his little fear :)

it's good to start them young since they have less fear.
Zara was very zelous when I first brought her to the pool. However, when she grew older (after 1yrs), I find that she also fear the water more, although she would still be in the pool, she would be hanging on to me for dear life.
I guess I didn't bring her often enough. :(
Wow, what kind of pool is that? DO u have to pay for it one?
YEa is good to let them learn how to swim...I am sure Champion will overcome the fear...slowly..the more visits the better he will feel.
As for lil president..GREAT JOB BUDDY! soon u will float with no help huh :)
no fear is good huh?!
just like my son... he is not afraid to run in the pool although he will fall down with his face into the water... LOL!

He not scared to jump in ah? Very brave lah LLS.
I don't mind them having a little fear, so that they will be careful. Otherwise, I want them both to start enjoy the water :)
hi geethaaaaaaa!!
how have you been? and your two darlings?
i am sure both boys will not want to leave the pool soon!
Hmm... reading your post makes me think I really should try to bring the kids to the pool more often. So lazy coz lots of effort required to cleanup afterwards! Bad mommy!
sfo,
Hi, hi, hi! Missed ur blogs u know. Welcome back :)
We have been good.. very busy, but doing well. The boys are enjoying themselves, day by day.. impressing amma and appa ;)
Yeah, I know that day will come, and I will have to drag them out then!
mumsgather,
Yeah, I'm sure they will enjoy the pool. Not much cleanup, just bathing them head to toe :) Unless you wanna use the baby pool, then more work :)
May be you should try bringing in some balls and play with him in the shallow pool. He will learn slowly.
allyfeel,
In our pool at home, I have many toys, but in a public pool, I might end up being busy gathering them ;)
