Shopping, with the boys

Shopping with kids has not been a breeze for us. Suddenly Champion says he wants to be carried. Suddenly lil' President says he wants to be carried. Each of us carrying one of them, pushing a trolley full of things, as well as a stroller... NOT EASY!

Nowadays, Champion doesn't prefer to sit in the trolley. I think he feels constrained. So, he is either in the stroller, in apps arms or walking.. He doesn’t sit in the stroller very long, and will ask apps to carry him. When apps get tired, he will put him down to walk on his own.. which means he has to be ready to run after Champion! Champion loves his freedom to stride along the corridors of the shopping complexes.

On the other hand, lil President doesn’t want to sit in the stroller already. He wants me to carry! But how am I to do shopping like that? Since he is now big enough for the trolley, I tried placing him there. Cool. He kept himself occupied, by investigating the stuffs we have bought :P

Try using a harness for Champion.. but then when I blogged about it, most people said it looks like a dog leash.

It's never easy to bring a young kid out shopping. Zara too, now prefers to be carried than walking, and when she's in the supermarket trolley, she wants to sit IN the trolley, instead of the seat of the trolley.

Never used a stroller for both my kids. As babies I used the sling. Now they either walk or sit in the trolley. Already forewarned that nobody would carry them. When Karina was younger she did not like to hold hands when out shopping. Damus is the opposite. But I read them a good book called "Come Along, Daisy" and it helped them understand the dangers of straying away from us parents. Don't have much problems shopping with them except for the occasional "Mom, I need to go toilet". Must say I have been blessed also that they don't throw tantrums when I don't get them what they want.

egghead,
I tried that before, but he didn't like it. But this weekend, he didn't mind standing there, especially since bro was sitting in the trolley seat... got company!

Yaloh, like captain, cute eh..

jazzmint,
hahhaha... must be careful there.. :)

zara's mama,
Sometimes we have said that we need it, but then we will say that we look mean.. Don't have the heart to do that lah. Pity them :P

As long as she want to seat somewhere.. she is controlable. instead of running loose!

I guess it will be better when the kids grow a bit huh ;)

lian,
Aaah, I tried the sling, but I fel pity for them. I found it to stressful and compressing for them, while hubby said it was not ergonomically right for me. So, didn't use it much..

Stroller was a necessasity (at least one).. coz' the boys are still young..

Oooh, the book worked? Must check it out...

Toilet and hungry.. can't help it.. children cannot 'tahan' :P

Good kids you have there.. So far so good, not much tantrums for me too.. Talking works.. (touch wood!)

I can understand how it feels like. Sometimes I carry until my backache. Then, I will sound hubs to help carry. But nowadays, the little fellow is so lazy to walk and keep saying bb tired, mommy carry. :) That's why I try to avoid shopping if possible.

I think I need to bring the stroller along out for shopping again.

allyfeel,
Yeah, when they grow older, they seem to be less excited of the trolley, or even walking.. May be they are bored of teh same place we're visiting? *wink*

I notice children use the stroller when they are very young, and when they are a bit older.. look like outgrow the stroller already.. The in between age, they love to explore!
