Right thing to do?!

Mr. President is down with fever, flu and cough. *sigh*

I had to take a day off to take care of him, since his fever was not going down. Sending him off to appayee's wouldn't help, especially with Champion there. Champion plays and disturbs Mr. President a lot... and Mr. President is very distracted by him. Nah, he wouldn't be able to get a good rest. So, Champion went to appayee's alone.

Apps said it is viral infection.. so he asked me to start him on antibiotics. The whole day Mr. President was having so much difficulty sleeping. He was just groaning, crying, tossing and turning... so kesian. He slept better in my arms, so I had to carry him most of the time.

When Champion came back in the evening, he went over to kiss his brother.. so sweet. I think he missed Mr. President.

Since Mr. President was not feeling any better, my parents offered to take care of Champion, while I can get back to work and leave Mr. President at appayee's and not have Champion there to disturb. Most importantly, we didn't want Champion to get the flu too. The last time Mr. President was sick, he passed it to Champion, and then to me, and then to apps. Oooo, we cannot afford that. Christmas is round the corner. The last thing we wanna have is fever and flu!

That night, Mr. President's fever got worse, around 39 degrees Celcius. That was a bit too hot for me. I felt his body burning my skin when I carried him. We had already given him the medicines. But, I couldn't wait for it to work. Too hot to wait anymore. So, I asked apps to get a wet towel to cool Mr. President off. Then apps says we shouldn't wet his face and head too much, scared his flu will get worse. Okay, though I disagreed with him (considering the high temperature), I accepted it. But, the fever was not going down.

NO! I cannot agree anymore. I remember that my parents used to put wet towel on our foreheads whenever we had fever, and we recovered quite well and fast. So, I had to go ahead with my experiences. I know that high fever can be dangerous, especially to babies...

Ahh, finally apps agreed with me. After at least 1/2 hour, the fever started going down.. Phew, what a relief. We continued to place the wet towel on his forehead.. until his temperature went down to around 37.3 degrees Celcius. But I noticed that the temperature was still fluctuating. But, at least it was not touching 38 degrees Celcius.

Only then we slept... *sigh* *relieve*

Apps was quiet when I was placing the towel on his forehead. Hehehe.. sorry ah doc. This time I had to go with my instict and experience.

Was I right? The wet towel would be the best solution in this case, isn't it? I hope I did the right thing, and didn't make his flu get worse instead (just in case apps was right)... *wonder*

putting wet towel over his forehead is not so advisable...

you should wipe his whole body especially neck, armpit, private part, all his joints, behind his ears, chest with slightly wet towel and leave tiny drops of water on the skin after :)

the fever is not on the head alone... do this a few times if his temperature reaches about 39 degrees :)

hope he recovers fast :)

Yeap, we did all that too.. wipe his body, especially the parts pointed out by yourself.

Wet towel on forehead not good ah? Why? I though the brains are is the human CPU. Too hot, then can damage, children can get fits, etc. Kindly advice...

Thank god, this morning he is feeling much better, no fever, only flu and cough. Thanks for the advice.
